Challenge

After two decades investing across technology, Bain Capital Ventures set out to launch its first industry-dedicated vehicle focused on crypto—a category that required an entirely different kind of pitch. The narrative had to resonate with traditional existing LPs while making the case for an outsized opportunity in an emerging asset class still unfamiliar to many institutional investors. Materials needed to land with both technical and non-technical audiences, and the team had to figure out how to present track record and team credibility within a broad platform launching a niche vertical.

Solution

Lyonshare built a narrative that honored the heritage of Bain Capital while explaining the technical opportunity from first principles to bridge the gap between institutional credibility and crypto-native conviction. Bain Capital Ventures Crypto closed an oversubscribed $560M Fund I against a $300M target. From there, the relationship expanded: AGMs, founder retreats, the BCV founder platform pitch, and keynote addresses. Our fresh take on the Bain Capital brand inspired the broader platform to bring Lyonshare in across additional strategies, turning a single fund engagement into a firm-wide partnership.
