About the Role
Lyonshare is seeking a team member focused on content development, business planning refinement, and positioning strategy to play a critical role in the growth of the startups and funds that work with us. You’ll work directly with founders and GPs across investor decks, sales decks, and other pitching collateral creation. To excel in this role you’ll need to advise on fundraising and positioning strategy, business planning, business forecasting and financial analysis, and other strategic deal-making preparation services as you develop the materials they will take to market to raise millions to billions of dollars.
Strong project management skills and EQ are essential, along with creative reasoning and problem solving. A keen eye for visually developing the content would be helpful so that you can liaison with our design team. A superstar will bolster a strong sense of expert-advisory respect and trust, fostering long-term relationships with clients that want to grow their relationship with the firm. There is a potential for the right candidate to lead and own all client relationships, and our VC-firm relationships as well.

Our business team works in a flexible, hybrid work environment in downtown New York City.
We’re also open to considering remote candidates.
Employment Status
We’re open to considering both full time employees and part time contractors for this role. Candidates must have work authorization in the United States.
Core Responsibilities
Craft persuasive business/fundraising narratives and written pitch deck content for Lyonshare’s startup and fund clients, working alongside our founder and our in-house design team to develop an institutional-grade finished product
Research and gather reference materials to support core components of the materials like market sizing and competitive analysis
Collaborate with the leadership teams of our clients across the fundraising process including project management, data collection, narrative development, financial analysis, diligence, negotiation
Meet 1:1 with clients during live pitch reviews where you coach and provide feedback to materially enhance the client’s draft materials
Communicate with and diligence/scope potential clients
Potential Additional Responsibilities
Own firmwide client relationship management and client deals, including delivering on a project soup to nuts from the initial intake call, to scoping, contracting, invoicing, and collecting
Deepen relationships within our existing venture capital network and build new relationships
Represent Lyonshare at networking events
True strategic finance work like FP&A, business building, and financial modeling if the skillset supports this work (otherwise Lyonshare founder will provide or a CFO will be plugged into this piece of the development process)
Requirements
4-12+ years of relevant work experience (we’re open to considering candidates at a variety of experience levels for this role–title and compensation will be commensurate with experience)
Previous experience writing and developing pitch deck presentations is a must. The ideal candidate will have experience working on pitch decks for Series A/B startups and/or funds. Corporate, Wall Street/IB/management consulting and Seed startup pitch deck experience is also relevant.
Additional relevant work experience could include: investment banking, VC or another investing role, founder/startup operator, or management consulting
Proficiency in business model analysis, investment thesis development and business storytelling/narrative construction
Basic Excel proficiency. Advanced Excel abilities and previous financial modeling, deal structuring, capital raising and valuation experience are a plus
Action-oriented with a can-do attitude, a sense of urgency, high energy and enthusiasm
Ability to manage ambiguity, deal comfortably with the uncertainty of change, and handle risk, re-evaluating and updating your to do lists on the fly and with confidence
Exceptionally high EQ, with the ability to expertly handle the nuances of client interactions
Bachelor’s Degree with a strong record of high academic achievement
Skills: Excellent verbal/written communication (ideally with multiple examples of work product or proof of study in undergraduate), narrative development/storytelling, critical thinking, strong client relationship management and leadership skills
